The ILE initiative to Puerto Rico allows students to examine the inner workings of the community, nonprofit and public organizations facilitating disaster relief efforts in rural communities impacted by Hurricane Maria (2017). The primary goal is to engage various forms of leadership and their approach to implementing community-based services for under-sourced areas.

- Rutgers undergraduate students who have:
- completed 12+ credits
- related coursework
- approval from the faculty director as well as their advisor
- Rutgers graduate students
No previous knowledge of Spanish is required in order to apply for this program.
